OCTC: Your Industry Advocate
OCTC is the leading advocate for Ohio’s chemical technology industry, the second largest manufacturing industry in Ohio. OCTC prides itself on providing its members value by voicing their goals and concerns to Ohio’s elected officials, the media and public.
OCTC accomplishes this through a diverse combination of lobbying and regulatory advocacy, member engagement, issue monitoring, sharing of news and developments, community relations, technical assistance and promoting environmental and science education.
Lobbying and Regulatory Expertise
OCTC staff have strong working relationships with members of the Ohio General Assembly, executive branch, regulatory agencies and others stakeholders that influence public policy in Ohio. We advocate the interests of our members to elected officials and regulators on economic, environmental and other issues that affect chemistry manufacturing companies.
Engaging Ohio’s Elected Officials and Regulators
Through participation in OCTC committees, conferences, regional meetings and other events, our members have the opportunity to meet with state and federal officials to discuss issues important to their companies. OCTC meetings are open to all members.
Communicating Issues Affecting Ohio's Chemistry Companies
OCTC staff closely monitor legislative and regulatory developments and its resulting media coverage. We communicate "early warnings" to our members through a weekly electronic newsletter, the Ohio Issues Minute, as well as electronic member bulletins.
In-Depth Analysis, Discussion and Collaboration on Issues
OCTC's Regulatory, Safety, Chemical Operator Training/Certification and Legislative Committees provide vital forums for members to discuss emerging issues that affect chemistry manufacturing companies in Ohio. OCTC member companies work together on issues of major importance to the industry. This is accomplished through our standing committees, special work groups and joint lobbying initiatives.
Bolstering Your Community Relations through Environmental and Science Education
Your company's community relations efforts—whether modest or expansive—can be bolstered through OCTC's Teachers, Industry and the Environment (TIE) program. By sponsoring a local teacher's participation in TIE, you become involved in the longest-running program in Ohio and increase the quality of science education in your community. Through a collaborative effort among OCTC members, Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and secondary and elementary educators, OCTC provides a unique learning experience for science teachers in Ohio. This annual workshop allows educators to learn about the innovative applications of chemistry technology, environmental stewardship programs and hands-on science experiments for students.
Access to Compensation and Benefits Survey Reports and Forums for Human Resources Issues
The OCTC Compensation and Benchmarking Work Group includes human resources and other professionals from OCTC member companies. These members cooperate in conducting benchmark studies on compensation and benefits, work practices, employment policies and other subjects of interest. The work group meets regularly to discuss topics of interest and provide updates on chemical industry workforce issues.
Your Office in Columbus, Help When Your Company Needs It
OCTC's office in Columbus is located across from the Capitol and within a few minute walk of major state agencies. We maintain a private office for use by member company personnel when in Columbus on business. This provides our members with a convenient satellite office when visiting downtown Columbus.
